MINUTES OF THE MEETING
1. Venu Sharma the President of MAAM gave a brief introduction about the setting up of MAAM and the progress it has made in the last seven months.
2. He gave inputs about Manobhinandana programme conducted by MAAM and said the programme was a grand success as it helped MAAM to find a niche and make its presence known. He also pointed out that many eminent people have given positive feedback about the programme. He attributed the success of the programme that included bringing out a book on Monohar Prasad to the combined efforts of the team.
3. He highlighted that future programmes of MAAM that includes starting a research driven web portal, a blood donation week and also about setting up an endowment fund by MAAM to provide prize money every year to one meritorious student of MCJ department of the University.
4. President Venu Sharma was elected President of the AGM meeting
5. Treasurer Smitha Shenoy submitted accounts for the period November 2014 to till date which was approved by the members.
6. Chairman G P Shivaram giving his views on MAAM said the alumni association should grow professionally. He said MAAM and the department has to work in coordination. With regard to endowment prize he said that MAAM has to be cautious in taking decisions.
7. Members discussed about the future plans to be undertaken by MAAM.
a. The members unanimously decided to give a cash prize every year from the endowment fund to one outstanding and active student of MCJ department from the coming year. MAAM member Sharat Hegde suggested that we introduce one cash prize on behalf of MAAM to undergraduate students of any college, any stream coming under Mangalore University . Members accepted his suggestion and Sharat Hegde has been asked to submit a small report on how to go about.
b. Members unanimously decided to fix annual membership at Rs. 100 and permanent membership fee at Rs. 1000/-. Members can pay fees through Real Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) to the account opened in the name of MAAM(R).
c. It was suggested to have an orientation day at the campus for MCJ students and MAAM members will have to be the resource persons and all members unanimously accepted it.
d. One of the members Stanley Pinto suggested that the department should change it syllabus some of which is unnecessary and knock off unwanted subjects and include relevant subjects. The members decided to give a representation to the MCJ department in this regard.
e. Decided to create an exclusive website for MAAM and Ronald Anil Fernandes and Venu Vinod will be in complete charge of this and the same was approved.
f. Members decided to fix a programme for Journalism students of Besant College where MAAM members have to take classes on various subjects to the students on various branches of journalism related subjects.
g. It was decided and approved that MAAM should have an active Bangalore chapter and responsibility is given to Deepak and Navin Amembal to fix a meeting in Bengaluru for MAAM members before September this year.

h. Election of office bearers:
a. The committee unanimously elected Florine Roche as the President of MAAM and present President Venu Sharma will continue as Honorary President
b. Krishnamohan Talengala was is elected unanimously as the General Secretary.
c. Ronald Fernandes is the Vice President and Deepak K was elected Vice President (Bengaluru) and Sharat Hedge is Vice President - outstation.
d. Yogeesh Holla is elected as the new Treasurer and Venu Vinod, Smitha Shenoy and Navin Amembala (co-opt) are elected as joint secretaries.
e. Krishna Kishore is elected the co-ordinator.
f. The committee also elected 12 people as Working Committee members. They include: 1.Surendra Shetty 2. Suresh Palli (co-opted) 3. Harish Motukana 4. Vidya Iravaturu 5. Raviraj 6. Shravan Kumar Nala 7. Prashanth Rai (co- opt) 8. Harish Kulkunda 9. Parashuram 10. Suprabha M K 11. Balakrishna Holla (co-opt) and 12. Ravi Prasad Kamila.
g. MCJ Department Chairman and two students from 1st and 2nd year each will be members of the committee.

Prof P L Dharma who was invited to speak as a representative of Mangalore University Alumni Association (MAA) after the AGM talked about the two associations working together for the betterment of the students in general. He also detailed about some of the aspects on which MAA and MAAM can work together. He also requested MAAM alumni to help political science students by giving them orientation classes at least once or twice a month to initiate interested students into the field of journalism. Prof Dharma also suggested that MAAM should join hands with MAA in submitting a memorandum for getting UG C funds for alumni associations.
The meeting ended with a vote of thanks by Venu Vinod.
